Looking east across the western Tennessee River Valley, which gradually widens here and becomes 'Kentucky Lake'. Kentucky Dam is 55 miles north of the bend at upper left.
Further east, the Buffalo River takes a ninety degree turn, paralleling the Tennessee Valley north for 45 miles, before emptying into the Duck, which squiggles along the top of the photo. Their confluence with the Tennessee (upper left) is surrounded by the Tennessee National Wildlife Reservation. Until 1829, much of this was Chickasaw land.
